Ancient culture meets modern technology as the Tjapukai performers are filmed by a drone. Tjapukai was used as an example of the benefits of tourism for Traditional Owners in NITV's The Point on March 29. More than 70% of Tjapukai's staff are Indigenous and 23 identify as Djabugay. The business has a Cultural Content Agreement with Traditional Owners and injected more than $4.3 million into the local Aboriginal community through wages, royalties, and the purchasing of art and artefacts.

In between Aboriginal dance shows at Tjapukai, performer Napolean Phillip Oui, whose totem name is Weika, is working on a mural as a new backdrop for the world’s longest running stage show. The dance performance has been a vehicle for sharing the authentic culture of the Djabugay people with the world since 1987 and is acknowledged in the Guinness Book of World Records. Weika, which means the quiet one in Djabugay language, has been showing audiences how to play a digeridoo and “shake a leg” corroboree-style at Tjapukai for 22 years and now trains the new performers.

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park Reviews

Our entire family had a wonderful day. Our 6 and 4 year old boys loved painting and throwing boomerangs but equally enjoyed the shows and learning about the Tjapukai from the very friendly staff members and tour guides. Thank you to everyone for teaching us about your culture and engaging our kids for 4 hours!

I went to the Saturday night dinner and show and was blown away with the entire experience! The entertainers were interactive, informative and incorporated the right amount of humour. Singing and dancing along to traditional tribal rituals made fun by the amazing staff! Couldn't fault the food, we tried Kangaroo, Crocodile and Emu! Thank you for a fantastic night. Don't forget to ask for a locals discount
